PENTIAX – The Corrupted Dragon

OVERVIEW

Pentiax gives you a lot of problems to worry about, but luckily, there's a pretty clear path to success.

The main thing to remember about Pentiax is that he takes 50% more damage from Titans, but takes 50% less damage from your Invokers. This gives you a very clear goal: maximize the impact of your Titans. To do this, try bringing Invokers with high Mana Gen to charge your Titans more frequently – and make sure each of your Invokers is fully Awakened to increase their Invokation time.

Beyond that, make sure you Invoke your Titans at the right time – you don't want to waste your precious Invokation time running up to Pentiax if you Invoke while you're far away, so pick your spots carefully.

Pentiax also has two sources of MAX HP Damage – a Burn debuff, which Pentiax then extends by a huge 5 seconds, and Mindfog, which you'll need Tolerance to handle. Surviving Pentiax's waves of fire and burning hail isn't easy – you'll also want to find Invokers that can purge Burn debuffs, or with skills that cast Immunity to block the debuffs in the first place.

Beyond that, the Pentiax fight isn't just about raw stats and debuff counters. A lot of this fight is about speed, positioning, and timing – being able to avoid Pentiax's deadliest attacks, charge your Titans quickly, and knowing when to Invoke them for maximum impact.

DO

Make sure every Invoker has a Titan bound to them.

Bring Invokers that generate Titan Mana quickly – more Titans, more damage.

Time your Titans: a badly-timed Titan is a wasted Titan.

Bring heals and a way to avoid those Burn debuffs.

Stay on your toes: positioning and timing is key!

DON'T

Leave your Titans at home.

Stand still.

Forget about Pentiax's Corruptions and Burns.

SKILL BREAKDOWN

Passive – Lineage of Titans

Pentiax takes 50% more damage from Titans, but takes 50% less damage from Invoker attacks and all other sources of damage.

  • TIP #1: Pentiax's Passive holds the key to success in this fight – maximizing the impact of your Titans. Your Invokers will have a huge (and permanent) damage penalty for the duration of the fight, but your Titans will have a massive damage boost. This means the more often you use your Titans, the better you'll do.

  • To increase the frequency at which you can Invoke Titans, you'll want to build your Invokers with as high Mana Gen as possible – all across your team. The quicker you generate Mana, the more often you'll charge your Titans.

  • To increase the time you spend in Titan form, make sure to Awaken your Invokers – at 2★, 4★, and 6★ Awakening, your Invokers will increase their Invokation Time, from 12 seconds, up to 15 seconds.

  • PRO TIP: Positioning and timing is an underrated aspect of making sure your Titans have the most impact. Pentiax moves around a lot, so make sure you learn his Skill patterns and Invoke your Titans at a time when you can unleash all your attacks on Pentiax. If your Titans are standing around, watching Pentiax soar through the sky, you're wasting your Titans. And make sure you Invoke your Titans while you're already standing close to Pentiax. If you Invoke while you're far away, you have to waste some of that precious Invokation Time running over to Pentiax to punch him in the face.

Combo Attack #1

Attacks 1 enemy, dealing N damage.

Combo Attack #2

Attacks 1 enemy, dealing N damage.

Combo Attack #3

Attacks all enemies in a 220°, 20m cone in front of Pentiax, dealing N damage per hit.

Combo Attack #4

Attacks all enemies in a 120°, 20m cone in front of Pentiax, dealing N damage per hit.

Skill 1 – Hail of Voidfire

Pentiax roars, his echo causing Voidfire stones to fall across the arena, leaving behind deadly pools of Voidfire.

Rocks rain across the arena, attacking all enemies, dealing N damage per hit. Casts a [0.3% Burn] debuff on each target, lasting 15s. The [Burn] debuff ticks 1 time every 1.5s. Casts 1 stack of Mindfog Corruption on each target. The Mindfog Corruption ticks 1 time every 10s. Each tick damages the target by 0.5% of their MAX HP. Each stack of Mindfog Corruption decreases the target's ACC by 3%.

Creates a 5m radius Voidfire Pool around each enemy hit, lasting 12s. After 3s, the Voidfire Pool ticks 1 time every 3s. Each tick deals N damage to all enemies in the area.

  • TIP #1: Pay attention to the Voidfire that the rocks leave behind! You can't avoid getting hit by the first part of this Skill, you can control where you run after. Try to position yourself away from Pentiax when the rocks are about to rain down, and those Voidfire pools will be set around the edge of the arena – at which point, they're not going to be in your way when you go back to fighting that big, scary dragon.

  • TIP #2: Pentiax will use this Skill often, and the combination of Burn and Mindfog here can drop your HP quickly. Be ready to remove the Burn debuff, and make sure you bring enough Mindfog tolerance to help mitigate some of that crazy damage.

Skill 2 – Breath of Soulburn

Pentiax selects a target and breathes a huge cone of fire in their direction, burning anyone it touches.

Breathes fire for 5s, in a 60°, 27m cone in front of Pentiax, rotating through a 180° radius in front of Pentiax. The fire breath ticks 1 time every 0.5s.

Each tick deals N damage to all enemies in the area. Each hit extends the duration of all [Burn] debuffs on the targets by 5s.

  • TIP #1: Take your opportunity! Avoid the fire and take your chance to unleash everything you have on Pentiax. It's usually a pretty good time to Invoke a Titan and go to town on Pentiax while you have him standing there.

  • TIP #2: If you get hit, it's going to extend the duration of all Burn debuffs you have on your Invokers by 5 seconds – that's nothing to sniff at. Luckily, it's quite easy to minimize the damage of this Skill by moving and repositioning.

Skill 3 – Melody of Darkstone

Pentiax petrifies its foes as Darkstone rocks slam into the ground.

Casts Nightmare Corruption on all enemies in the arena, lasting 10s.

Darkstone Rocks fall from the sky, targeting each enemy, dealing N damage to all enemies in a 3m radius of the point of impact. Casts a [Stun] debuff on each target hit, lasting 1s.

Darkstone Rocks fall every 2s, for 4s.

  • TIP #1: Bring Nightmare Tolerance! If you don't, there's not much you can do other than hope for the best – and that's your own fault. That Nightmare Corruption lasts a long time, and if you happen to run into the burning-hot perimeter around the arena, you're going to have a bad time. The lava around the arena damages whoever's stood in there by 0.3% MAX HP every 2 seconds – and it ignores DEF, so you're going to lose a big chunk of life if you touch it.

Skill 4 – Roar of the Eternal

Pentiax hovers above the ground, unleashing roaring flame on nearby enemies and calling Elementals to his cause.

Pentiax breathes fire, attacking all enemies in a 30m radius, dealing N damage.

Pentiax summons 5 Fire Elementals.

  • TIP #1: Run. Be on your toes, be ready, and then dash out of the way. This blast of flame does a lot of damage.

  • TIP #2: Take out the Elementals! While it might be easy to get distracted by the giant dragon in the arena, these enemies will quickly take your whole team out if you leave them unattended.

CORRUPTIONS

Pentiax has two Corruptions: one Damage Corruption (Mindfog), and one Control Corruption (Nightmare).

Pentiax's attacks deal extra damage as Mindfog Damage, which is not decreased by your Invokers’ DEF Stat.

DAMAGE CORRUPTION –  MINDFOG

Mindfog Corruption

  • Each stack of Mindfog damages the target by a percentage of their MAX HP every tick. Each stack also decreases the target's ACC. Infinite duration.

Mindfog Tolerance

Mindfog Corruption is a damage-over-time effect that damages the recipient by a percentage of their MAX HP every tick. It also decreases the target's ACC by a certain percentage. Mindfog Corruption has an infinite duration and cannot be removed. Mindfog Corruption stacks additively, so each stack of Mindfog directly increases the damage per tick and the ACC reduction.

Bosses with Mindfog Corruption also deal direct Mindfog damage from their Skills, in addition to their regular damage. Direct Mindfog damage ignores the target's DEF stat, and can only be decreased by the target's Mindfog Tolerance.

Increasing an Invoker's Mindfog Tolerance will decrease all Mindfog damage by the Invoker's Tolerance percentage, along with decreasing the effects of the ACC reduction.

CONTROL CORRUPTION – NIGHTMARE

Nightmare Corruption

  • Causes the target to run uncontrollably. Puts one of the target's Skills on full Cooldown, at random, after the Nightmare Corruption expires.

Nightmare Tolerance

Nightmare Corruption causes the target to run around uncontrollably, during which time they cannot use any Skills, and could run into a trap or deadly enemy attacks. And once the Nightmare Corruption expires, one of the target's Skills will be put on full cooldown.

Increasing an Invoker's Nightmare Tolerance will decrease the duration of the Nightmare's effects by the Invoker's Tolerance percentage, allowing you to regain control sooner. And at 100% Tolerance, your Skills will not be affected by the cooldown increase.
